Andrea Grüner is the soul of the Pirchhütt Hotel in Obergurgl. She was raised by her grandmother on an Alpine farm in Mölltal, Carinthia. Martin grew up in Obergurgl.
Often people ask the Grüner family where the name of the hotel comes from: Pirchhütt is precisely that stretch of land reaching from the Festkogel slope 250 metres into the village centre. The name originated in the 15th century, when this part of the country was full of cabins (“Hütten”) made of birch wood (“Birke”).
Hotel Pirchhütt represents comfort, warmth, and nature – and these are also the themes which welcome our guests. 37 years ago, we met for the first time. In 1982, when we got married, we had already built the castle of our dreams, at least in our minds. Seven years later, we were finally able to turn our dream into reality. At Christmas that year, we opened the doors to our hotel and welcomed our first guests. Our children, Martin and Luzia, completed our dream in 1991 and 1994. Every year since then, we have modernised and renovated the hotel and created new ideas for our guests and their wellbeing. We never rested. Soon we installed a modern lift. In 2009, we redesigned and expanded the sauna area, which after all these years is still a highlight to our visitors. In the meantime all our guestrooms have appeared in new splendour and sported a comfortable design. We are happy to be able to host you!
